The Old Colonial Cemetery was established at some time between 1715 and 1730. The oldest gravestone in the cemetery is for a man named John Campbell, who died in 1731. [1]

Sixty-six veterans of the Revolutionary War are known to be buried in the Old Colonial Cemetery.  A plaque on Main Street in front of the cemetery lists the following information about these men. [2]

Private Dugall Campbell
Born 1732 / Died March 5, 1809
Served in Middlesex County Militia. His cattle and hay were plundered by the British and he lost his gun, bayonet, two knapsacks and two canteens during his service in the war.

Patriot Neil Campbell
Born 1733 or 1734 / Died October 16, 1777
Was taken from his sick bed and removed from his home near
Oak Hills by the British. He escaped, but later he died from the exposure.
